MetaDefender Kiosk v4.3.4 Release

Product Overview

MetaDefender Kiosk is a solution that protects organizations by acting as a checkpoint for data on USB drives and other media devices, providing the ability to detect, control, and sanitize digital data before it enters or leaves a secure network.

MetaDefender Kiosk allows you to set filters to permit or block content based on file size, file type, and multiple antivirus scan results. Kiosk sanitizes files to remove embedded threats, quarantine blocked files, or copy allowed files to trusted media or network locations. Additionally, you can configure specific workflows for individual users or groups within your organization using domain or system accounts to authenticate users.

New In This Release

  • Added support for High-Availability & Layer 7 load balancing

OPSWAT is excited to announce support for High-Availability. During peak usage of MetaDefender Kiosk, the High-Availability capability directs file processing to backup MetaDefender Core servers. Previously, Kiosk defaulted to a secondary Core server during peak usage, but this required a restart of the scan session on the current media being processed. Now, switching to backup Core servers will occur seamlessly, without impacting file processing speeds. This enhancement is especially beneficial to customers scanning large data sets, as an interruption could result in significant delays.

In addition, release 4.3.4 adds support for optimizing HTTP(s)-based Layer 7 load balancer, as described in https://onlinehelp.opswat.com/corev4/9.5.1._HTTP%28S%29_-_Layer_7_load_balancing.html. This feature allows an organization to place several MetaDefender Core instances on a single load balancer. Based on the load, MetaDefender Kiosk files will be routed to the optimal MetaDefender Core server for processing. By spreading out the load to several Core servers, organizations can dramatically accelerate processing in high throughput environments.
