Product Overview
OPSWAT MetaDefender ICAP Server is the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP) interface between MetaDefender Core and any third-party ICAP client. By leveraging OPSWAT’s industry-leading technologies: Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (Deep CDR), Multiscanning, File-Based Vulnerability Assessment, Proactive Data Loss Prevention (Proactive DLP) and Threat Intelligence, MetaDefender ICAP Server can protect against advanced malware traffic targeting your network appliances and storage devices.
Release Highlights
MetaDefender ICAP Server 4.12.0 offers support for updated Operating System (OS) versions, a new option to enforce password policy, security and logging enhancements, improved startup time, and minor bug fixes.
Support for New OS Versions
MetaDefender ICAP Server 4.12.0 officially supports these new OS versions:
- CentOS 8.x
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.x
- Debian 10.x, 11.x
- Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04

Password Policy Options for Administrators
Security Administrators can now enforce complex passwords for admin and user accounts with two configuration options: Enforce Password History (determine how many unique passwords are associated with the user account) and Minimum Password Length (set the lowest number of characters in the allowed password). To configure password policy, go to Settings > Security.
Security Enhancements
In our continuing efforts to improve security in MetaDefender ICAP Server, we have added the following enhancements:
- Supports TLS 1.3 for HTTPS connection
- Enhanced HTTPS with new appended security headers for the Product Management Console UI:

. - Upgraded OpenSSL to version 1.0.2u (Windows)
- A new configuration option for toggling on the certificate's name for host verification
Logging Enhancements
The ICAP client IP address details have been added to the mdicapsvr.log scan entries. This addition provides options for automation in diverse environments to speed the investigation process, without requiring that admins to log in to the ICAP Server.
Faster Startup Time
MetaDefender ICAP Server startup is now faster when handling large databases.
