Metadefender ICAP Server Integration with F5's BIG-IP Platform

F5® BIG-IP® Local Traffic Manager™
F5's BIG-IP platform is a blend of software and hardware that offers a load balancer combined with a full proxy. For organizations that use sites which allow data or files to be accessed from the web, or rely on end users uploading files to web applications, the F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM®) server provides support by balancing these uploads across multiple back-end servers.
Although this allows a higher file volume, it can also significantly increase exposure to threats from threat actors that seek to compromise and gain access to back-end servers.
MetaDefender's ICAP Server
The MetaDefender ICAP Server interface allows you to easily add MetaDefender Core's multi-scanning technology into an existing reverse proxy, such as the F5 BIG-IP LTM, to enable anti-malware scanning of all file uploads. Using powerful and role-based workflow rules, system administrators can set it up to automatically forward any uploaded files to a MetaDefender ICAP Server that will scan the files with multiple anti-malware engines for potential advanced threats.

As a member of the F5 technology alliance program, OPSWAT offers advanced threat protection as a second layer of defense for your F5 BIG-IP reverse proxy. The joint solution inspects files as they travel through the F5 BIG-IP LTM application delivery controller (ADC), and blocks any file that is identified as a threat at that point.
This approach works best if the objective is to block files without subjecting them to further inspection. However, some of OPSWAT's customers use F5 BIG-IP LTM systems as an application delivery controller (ADC) that directs any incoming files to one of many servers. They can use MetaDefender ICAP Server to scan all incoming files as they come through the BIG-IP server and block any files that are potential threats before they reach the servers in the cluster.
OPSWAT's MetaDefender ICAP Server combines industry-leading security technology, intelligence, and expertise with partner products to allow BIG-IP administrators to securely scan all files uploaded through the BIG-IP server, while also blocking any malicious content before it reaches their back-end web application servers.
Supported Integrations

In addition to F5's BIG-IP, MetaDefender ICAP Server also supports integrations with Symantec Bluecoat's ProxySG line of devices, McAfee's Secure Web Gateway, Squid Proxy Server, ARA Networks' Jaguar5000 appliances, and Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
